About
TurkCouncil English Dictionary is an English–Turkish learner's dictionary by TurkCouncil. It contains more than 64,000 entries with Turkish meanings, example sentences, IPA and audio in American and British English.
How the content is made. Entries are produced with the help of AI tools and are checked and corrected by the TurkCouncil team on an ongoing basis. Some entries — including words added automatically when a search finds nothing — may not have been reviewed yet, so occasional mistakes are possible. Synonyms, antonyms, collocations, related words, usage notes and picture captions are generated with AI assistance and filtered automatically. The pictures on word pages are illustrative artwork, not depictions of the word.
Pronunciation audio is generated with AI voices in American and British English; no real person's voice is cloned.
Privacy notice
This dictionary is operated by Özer CAN — TurkCouncil (Kocasinan, Kayseri, Türkiye), the data controller. The full legal texts are on turkcouncil.com: KVKK Aydınlatma Metni, Gizlilik Politikası and Çerez Politikası. To use your rights under Article 11 of the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) — for example to see, correct or delete your data — use the KVKK Başvuru Formu or the contact page.
Without an account. You can search and read without signing in. Our server keeps access logs (IP address, time and the page requested, including your search words) for 2 years, as required by Turkish Law No. 5651. To count visitors we store a one-way hash of your IP address and your browser type once per day, not the address itself; these records are deleted after one year. Search words that find no entry are saved without your IP address or account, so we can add missing words. Your browser stores a few preferences locally — colour theme, search direction and recent searches — which are not sent to us.
With an account. You sign in with your turkcouncil.com membership; your name, e-mail address and password are kept by turkcouncil.com, not by this dictionary. Here we keep only what you choose to save — saved words, lists, study progress and preferences — linked to your membership, and use it only to run the dictionary for you. We do not sell your data and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Cookies. Only strictly necessary cookies are used: form security, the shared sign-in check, bot protection, your sign-in session (only after you sign in) and the shared sign-out signal. Names and durations are listed in the Çerez Politikası.
Third parties. Fonts and icons are served from our own server and no third-party scripts are loaded. Our servers are in Türkiye.
Your data. On your account page you can download or clear your dictionary data (saved words, lists, progress). Closing your membership itself is done on turkcouncil.com.
Terms of use
- The dictionary is provided for personal, non-commercial learning. Please do not bulk-copy, scrape or resell its content.
- Content is provided “as is”. We work to keep it accurate but cannot guarantee it is free from errors.
- Your membership is governed by the Üyelik Sözleşmesi on turkcouncil.com.
- We may remove accounts that abuse the service and may change or discontinue features at any time.
- The TurkCouncil name, logo and original content belong to Özer CAN (TurkCouncil).
